MOGADISHU (RBC) Former deputy chairperson of Somalia federal parliament Mohamed Omar Dalha told RBC Radio that United Nations Development Programme [UNDP] has cut off the wages from the lawmakers in the last three months.
“In the case of the parliament we are very much worried that UNDP has cut off the wages of the parliament in the last three months following the closure of parliament session.” Dalha told RBC Radio in special interview on Saturday.
The European Union pays parliament wages through UNDP since 2009 and many of Members of the Parliament believe that the wages cut off may become the result of the political feud between TFG leadership.

The parliament- composed of 550 members hand-picked by their clans did not sit for the past four months, but Lawmaker Dalha says that this is not for the MPs “it is for the leadership of the house”.
He called for the speaker to open the session in Mogadishu and resume the work of the house.
“The government wants the legislation to discuss the bills, so like that we want to continue our tasks as MPs.” He said.
